Zomba was the first settlement of the colonial administration and the former capital city of Malawi. The city is best known for its British architecture, reflecting its colonial past, and its location below the majestic Plateau of the same name. Since Zomba was once a hub for expatriates in Malawi, it hosts a really diverse ethnic mix. Following the establishment of Chancellor College as the largest college in the University of Malawi system, Zomba changed in character from a government center to a university town.
